This season has been nothing short of amazing. Having been tipped to finish 17th we managed to finish within a European football spot. I really didn’t expect this sort of finish I was originally hoping for a mid table position. The team was ruthless at home that’s where we picked up most of our points and it’s something we will need to continue into next season. The stand out results were the 2-0 results against Chelsea and Arsenal.
The team performed much better than i had thought they would, considering it was out first season back in the premier league. Darren Randolph was solid in goal. Andre Wisdom had a really good first season with us at St. Andrews, him and David Edgar formed a strong partnership at the back, Jack Hunt was also impressive at right back. In midfield star player Dele Alli who was on loan from Celtic was fantastic! What a player he has been, our top goalscorer from midfield with 15 goals fired us into 6th position. We will be looking to make him permanent. Demarai Gray and David Cotterill were consistent threats from the wings. Up front main striker Clayton Donaldson didn’t quite score as many goals as he would have liked but despite that he was our highest overall rated player. Charlie Austin will be moved on and Ezequiel Rescaldani struggled to adjust to the league but he will come good.
Top 3 Players
Developing youth and improving the facilities is also an important part of my plan with Birmingham. These last couple of seasons we have produced some really promising players who could have big futures with us. Neil Clark is a player I regard highly, he even made his debut against Chelsea coming on as a substitute. He spent the second half of the season on loan at Cheltenham. A bit more work on his technical ability and he could be a star.
